Mon, 21 Sep 2026 12:00:00 -0000

In this episode of the Here We Are podcast, Dallas reflects on winter storms, the needs of others, and the quiet power of persistent prayer.

Prayer isn’t about saying the right words — it’s about continuing to come to God, trusting that every prayer matters, even when the answers aren’t immediate. As Jesus taught, we are called to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking.

Take a moment to reflect, pray, and be encouraged. God is at work — even when we can’t yet see it.

What if the quieter seasons of life are not setbacks, but sacred pauses designed by God?

In this episode, Dallas reflects on a lifetime of ministry and the gentle lessons learned in seasons of waiting. Just like music, life needs rests as much as notes. God often does His deepest work when the world grows quiet and we listen more closely.

If you’ve ever felt overlooked, sidelined, or unsure of what comes next, let this remind you: the Lord orders every step. Stay attentive to the Conductor. Your moment will come.

Hearing God in the Quiet of an Alabama Morning

Mon, 21 Sep 2026 12:00:00 -0000

In the quiet of a cold Alabama morning, God’s creation becomes a gentle reminder that He is present and still speaking. This reflection invites us to slow down, listen, and recognize how the Lord speaks through His Word, His Spirit, and the stillness we often overlook.

Take a few moments today to be still before Him and let your heart be reminded of His nearness and grace.

Dallas Holm - When the Goin' Got Tough | Good News Blues

Mon, 21 Sep 2026 12:00:00 -0000

A lyric video for "When the Goin' Got Tough," from Dallas Holm's album Good News Blues.

Lyrics:
Put my trust in a long time friend;
Said he'd be there 'til the end.
But when the goin' got tough;
When the goin' got tough;
Well my friend just slipped away,
When the goin' got tough.

Thought I'd make it by myself,
Didn't need nobody else.
But when the goin' got tough;
When the goin' got tough;
I couldn't help myself,
When the goin' got tough.

When I didn't know what to do;
When I didn't know what to say;
When I didn't think I could make it,
One more endless day.
Well, you came into my life
And your love was more than enough.
Oh, you saved me,
When the goin' got tough

Thought I'd take the money and run.
Thought that I could buy me some fun.
But when the goin' got tough;
When the goin' got tough.
I couldn't buy myself a smile,
When the goin' got tough.

Dallas Holm - The Tide Always Comes Back In | Good News Blues

Wed, 16 Sep 2026 12:00:00 -0000

A lyric video for "The Tide Always Comes Back In," from Dallas Holm's album Good News Blues.

Lyrics:
I recall when you cut me loose
And let me go.
Set adrift on an ocean;
I couldn't see the shore.
But keep your eyes on the horizon
'Cause you might see me again;
'Cause the tide always comes back in.

Well you pushed me out the door;
You left me in the street.
Not too smooth; not too kind;
Not too discreet.
But you know that I can always find
My way back here again;
And just like the tide always comes back in.

Out of sight out of mind,
That's what they always say.
There were times when I hurt so bad
I nearly lost my way.
But I'm comin' round and I'm comin' back;
You'll be seeing me again;
'Cause the tide always comes back in.

I've been ignored and pushed around;
Taken all that you can give.
I've been evicted from my own life,
Just like I never lived.

When you nailed me to a tree
You posted your own sins.
When you thought you took my life,
Well, that's when life began.
And I'm comin' back like I said I would
And no one knows just when;
But the tide always comes back in.

Out of sight out of mind,
That's what they always say.
When you laid me in the ground
I guess you thought I'd stay.
But keep your eyes on the horizon
You'll be seeing me again;
'Cause the tide always comes back in.

Stories Behind the Hymns: It Is Well With My Soul

Dallas Holm — Wed, 26 Aug 2026 12:00:00 -0000

Dallas Holm continues a feature he hopes to revisit more often: the stories behind some of the great hymns of the church. This time it's one of his own longtime favorites, "It Is Well With My Soul" - a hymn born out of one of the darkest seasons in Christian hymn history.

Dallas shares how attorney Horatio G. Spafford came to write those words, plus the story behind Philip Bliss's melody. Both come from a book Dallas treasures and keeps coming back to, Robert Morgan's "Then Sings My Soul" (Volumes 1 and 2).

Can you say, in the middle of your own trials, "It is well with my soul"?

Memorize Scripture with the Navigators' Topical Memory System

Dallas Holm — Sat, 22 Aug 2026 09:30:49 -0000

Dallas Holm sits down with his friend Keith, who leads the Gladiators for His Glory Bible study in Lindale, Texas, for a conversation about memorizing Scripture and the Navigators ministry that shaped both of their walks with Christ.

Keith traces his own start with the Navigators back to his time in the Navy aboard the USS Nimitz, then shares the story of founder Dawson Trotman and how a single discipleship relationship in the 1930s grew into a movement built on one simple principle: pass on what you've been taught. He walks through the Navigators' Topical Memory System, 60 scripture cards built for exactly this kind of one-verse-a-week discipline, and other practical ways anyone can memorize Scripture: writing a verse out by hand, engaging your senses, or simply reviewing what you've learned.

A gentle reminder that God's Word hidden in your heart is never wasted, no matter your age or how sharp you think your memory is.

- 1 John 5:11-12
- 1 Corinthians 10:13
- 1 John 1:9

Christianity: Convenient or Crucial? (Part 2)

Wed, 22 Jul 2026 11:55:00 -0000

Dallas closes his message on crucial Christianity with the price the Apostle Paul paid just to sign his own letters — crippled, gnarled hands — and lands on the promise that carries every believer through suffering: God's grace is sufficient, in living and in dying.

Paul had Luke — a doctor who stayed by his side through the suffering. Who in your life needs you to do the same?

Scripture referenced:
- Isaiah 45:7
- Romans 8:28
- Romans 12:1-2
- Galatians 2:20
- Philippians 3:7-10

Also quoted: J. Gregory Mantel, Beyond Humiliation — "It's far harder to live moment by moment than it is to die once."

Christianity: Convenient or Crucial? (Part 1)

Wed, 15 Jul 2026 12:00:00 -0000

Is your faith merely convenient — or is it truly crucial? Guest preaching by invitation from Pastor Bryce, Dallas opens a message grounded in the true stories of two men who paid dearly for the gospel: Rev. Harlan Popov, a Bulgarian pastor tortured for 13 years under Communist rule, and Richard Wurmbrand, founder of Voice of the Martyrs, imprisoned for 14 years.

This is Part 1 of a two-part message.

How Great Is Our God: A Fourth of July Reflection | Dallas Holm

Wed, 08 Jul 2026 22:01:40 -0000

On this Independence Day weekend, Dallas Holm reflects on the awesome displays of power he witnessed—Fourth of July fireworks, a New York Harbor military parade, flyovers by the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds—and how all of it, put together, barely represents a spark compared to the power and glory of God.

As a thunderstorm rolls in during filming, Dallas draws a simple but striking comparison: the fireworks and military might we celebrate this weekend are nothing next to the lightning and thunder God commands, "not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit" (Zechariah 4:6). He shares a favorite childhood memory of thunder explained as "angels moving furniture," then leads listeners in worship with "How Great Is Our God."

The episode closes in praise—honoring God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and resting in the hope of the resurrection.

Take a moment to reflect: whatever power impresses you this week, remember it's only a shadow of the God we serve.

Why We Need God’s Word in Our Hearts

Wed, 01 Jul 2026 10:00:05 -0000

In this episode of Here We Are, Dallas Holm is joined by his friend Jason Rose for a warm and thoughtful conversation about memorizing Scripture, meditating on God’s Word, and learning to handle truth with grace.

Dallas reflects on the people who helped shape his love for the Bible, including his grandfather, faithful pastors, David Wilkerson, and the men in his Friday morning Bible study. Together, Dallas and Jason remind us that Scripture is not meant to be used harshly, but hidden in our hearts so the Holy Spirit can bring it to life in the right moment.

May this conversation encourage you to treasure God’s Word, spend time in Scripture, and allow it to shape the way you follow Jesus.

Dallas Holm Shares a Simple Song with a Powerful Truth

Wed, 17 Jun 2026 10:00:35 -0000

As Dallas reflects on the childhood song "This Little Light of Mine," he shares a simple but powerful reminder: the world may grow darker, but Jesus is still the Light.

God has shone His light upon us, and He invites us to walk in that light every day. Darkness is always just a step away—but so is His grace, His truth, and His presence.

Take a moment today to ask yourself: Is my light shining for Him? And if not, pray for the courage to step back into His light.

What helps you stay close to Jesus when life feels dark? Dallas would love to hear from you.

How Do You Raise Kids to Love Jesus in Today’s World?

Wed, 27 May 2026 10:00:30 -0000

One of the greatest ministries we may ever have is right inside our own home.

In this conversation, Dallas sits down with Jennifer and Jason to talk honestly about raising children to know and love Jesus. Not through perfection or pressure, but through consistency, prayer, Scripture, love, and creating a home where Christ is truly lived out every day.

Sometimes it’s Bible stories on a trampoline. Sometimes it’s Bible trivia in the car. Sometimes it’s simply staying faithful when you wonder if anything is sinking in. Keep planting those seeds. God is faithful.

If you’re raising children, praying for grandchildren, or trying to lead your family closer to the Lord, we hope this encourages you today. ❤️

The Man Who Kept Paul Alive

Wed, 22 Apr 2026 10:00:44 -0000

Sometimes the Lord shows us something new in a verse we’ve read many times before.

At the end of one of Paul’s letters, there’s a simple mention: “Luke, the beloved physician.” It’s easy to pass over—but when you stop and consider it, you begin to see the quiet, faithful role Luke played in Paul’s life.

Through beatings, wounds, and suffering, Luke was there—caring, encouraging, helping Paul continue the work God had called him to. Paul’s ministry didn’t stand alone.

Maybe the Lord is reminding us today… you may be a “Luke” in someone’s life. What seems small to you may be exactly what someone else needs to keep going.

Take a moment and ask the Lord who you can come alongside today.

Holy Week Reflection: The Cross, the Crowd, and the Call

Wed, 01 Apr 2026 10:00:31 -0000

This Holy Week message is a powerful reflection on the day Jesus carried the cross through the streets.

Many watched. Many followed for a time. But few truly understood who He was or what was happening.

Dallas reminds us that while they didn’t know… we do.

We know Jesus is the Son of God. We know He gave His life and rose again. And with that knowledge comes both a privilege and a responsibility.

Are we living in a way that reflects Him?
Are we sharing the truth of who He is with others?

Take time today to reflect on the cross, the resurrection, and the calling we carry as believers.

When Trials Reveal the Song God Placed Within You

Wed, 25 Mar 2026 10:00:35 -0000

Sometimes it’s the fire that brings the song out of us.

In this reading from *Streams in the Desert*, we’re reminded that even in seasons of suffering, God is still at work. Like the old oak log that released music in the fire, our trials can draw out a deeper trust, a deeper praise, and a deeper surrender to Him.

We don’t naturally welcome the furnace… but it’s often there that God frees us from what binds us and reveals His presence in a way we couldn’t see before.

If you’re walking through a hard season today, take heart. The Lord is near. He sees you, He holds you, and He may be drawing out something beautiful from within you for His glory.

Take a moment today to pray, reflect, and listen… there may be a song forming in your heart.

As we approach Resurrection Sunday, we take a moment to look back at “His Last Days”—a project deeply rooted in Scripture and prayer.

Through the voices of those closest to the cross, we’re reminded how personal the story of Jesus really is—His sacrifice, His love, and His call to each of us.

In the end, the question remains the same:
What will you do with Him?

Open Our Eyes, Lord

Wed, 04 Mar 2026 11:01:07 -0000

There’s a simple prayer that’s been in my heart: “Open our eyes.”

In this episode, I share what has truly sustained me through decades of ministry. It hasn’t been the music or the milestones — it’s been a daily relationship with Jesus. Time in His Word. Time in prayer. Learning to be still and listen for that gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit.

We speak to Him in prayer. He speaks to us through His Word.

If you’ve been feeling distracted or weary, I encourage you to take a few quiet moments with the Lord today. Ask Him to open your eyes and help you hear His voice clearly.

It Was Never About the Awards - Dallas Holm

Wed, 25 Feb 2026 11:01:33 -0000

When I first surrendered my life to Jesus in 1965, I knew one thing — I wanted to sing for Him. I didn’t know what that would look like, but I trusted that if I delighted myself in the Lord, He would guide my steps.

These awards and memories aren’t the point. They simply represent millions of people hearing the gospel because of one simple commitment: “Lord, I’m Yours.”

Psalm 37:4 reminds us that when we keep Him first, He shapes our desires according to His will. He prepares the work — we simply walk in obedience.

May this encourage you to trust His plan and surrender your gifts back to Him.

What does it truly mean to share in the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings?

In this episode, Dallas reflects on the Apostle Paul, persecution, and the refining work of God through hardship. True discipleship begins with dying to self—and through that surrender, resurrection power is revealed.

How The Time Does Fly - A New Year Reflection

Wed, 31 Dec 2025 15:44:32 -0000

In this heartfelt New Year message, Dallas reflects on memories, faith, and the unchanging goodness of God. As one year ends and another begins, we’re reminded that our hope is secure in Jesus, both now and for eternity.

Take a quiet moment to reflect, pray, and step into the new year trusting the Lord who holds all time in His hands.

My How the Time Does Fly
Written & Performed By Dallas Holm

My oh my how the time does fly
It just slips away
I used to be a younger man
Just yesterday
Not long ago time moved so slow
Now the years they just blow by
Here I stand an older man
Oh my how the time does fly

Methuselah was the oldest man
Who ever walked the earth
Nine hundred and sixty nine years he lived
Well what was his time worth
When he finally came to the end of the trail
He looked up to the sky
Drew a breath spoke his last
And said my how the time does fly

The Birthday Card for Jesus — A Beautiful Christmas Tradition

Wed, 17 Dec 2025 11:01:00 -0000

Welcome back to the Here We Are podcast. Christmas is coming quickly, and today Dallas shares a joyful Christmas song — Come On, Ring Those Bells — celebrating Jesus, the true reason we gather, give, and rejoice this time of year.

After the song, he tells a childhood story from Christmas Eve at his Aunt Lorena’s house — a simple but powerful tradition of finding the “birthday card for Jesus” under the tree. Inside was always a gift for someone in need, a reminder that Christmas is about giving as Christ first gave to us.

May this little memory encourage you to pause in the middle of the season’s busyness and remember the One we’re truly celebrating.
Jesus — our Savior, our King, and the greatest gift ever given.

Merry Christmas.
If this brought back a Christmas memory of your own, share it in the comments.
Let’s encourage one another as we celebrate Jesus’ birthday together.

Everybody likes to take a holiday
Everybody likes to take a rest
Spending time together with the family
Sharing lots of love and happiness.

Come on, ring those bells,
Light the Christmas tree,
Jesus is the king
Born for you and me.
Come on, ring those bells,
Every-body say,
Jesus, we remember
This your birthday.

Celebrations come because of something good.
Celebrations we love to recall

The greatest celebration of all.

You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out! - Merry Christmas from Dallas Holm

Wed, 10 Dec 2025 11:01:30 -0000

Merry Christmas, friends!

Holiday Inn
By Dallas Holm

Well, they rode into town in the dark
By the light of the moon
Mary felt her Baby and she knew
That it was coming soon
All they needed was a small room
Where she could lay her head
And all they wanted for Jesus was a bed

Well, they stopped at the Holiday Inn
There was a convention
They said, "Sorry, ain't got no room
Without a reservation
But I'm sure if I call ahead
Well, I can find you a bed
But you might have to wait
'til morning instead"

Well, if they'd known Baby Jesus was King
And if they'd known He created everything
I feel sure they'd given Him the executive suite
But as it was, they just got sent on down the street

Well, they walked a bit further
'Til they came to another inn
And the man said, "Sorry, we're full
But y'all come back again"
Well, now Joe said it could not wait
'Cause it was getting late
He said, "My wife's going to have
A Baby today"

Well, the man said, "All I've got to offer
Is a little old shack
And you can find it if you look real hard
It's out around back
Well, chase those cattle out
And move some things about
I'll see you in the morning
And don't forget to check out"

Well, if he'd known Baby Jesus was King
And if he'd known He created everything
I feel sure He'd found them a better place to stay
But as it was, Baby Jesus got born there in the hay

Well, now I know that my Jesus
Well, He's King
And I know He created everything
That's why I've given Him
The best room from the start
And that's why Jesus
Makes His home inside of my heart

Looking Back: Holm for Christmas

Wed, 03 Dec 2025 11:01:05 -0000

As Christmas approaches, I’m reminded of something simple and beautiful: every light we see is a small reminder that Jesus arrived, stepped into history, and changed the world forever.

This season stirs up childhood memories, favorite carols, and even a few funny stories—but it all points back to one truth: Christ came with purpose, and every part of His story leads us back to the cross and the hope we have in Him.

I pray this season draws your heart closer to Jesus. What Christmas song or memory helps you slow down and remember the true meaning of it all?

Am I Still Significant? Embracing Every Chapter of Life

Wed, 19 Nov 2025 11:01:02 -0000

"Am I just one more old guy on the downhill side of life?" I asked myself this years ago when the concert crowds thinned and the radio plays stopped. Maybe you've wondered something similar as your season changed.

In this conversation with Jennifer, we explore a profound truth: When God moves us from the front lines to the rear guard, He's not retiring us - He's qualifying us for something deeper. Like the tribe of Dan who picked up the wounded and weary, our later seasons often carry our most important assignments.

I'll never forget the night in a tiny Arizona mountain church with just 50 people. An 80-year-old man who'd resisted Christ his entire life finally surrendered. Then it happened again the next night. God whispered: "See? All those big arenas were just preparation for this."

Whether you're navigating retirement, empty nesting, or wondering if you're still significant - this message is for you. Your relationship with God is the only thing you truly control. If you're living in humble obedience to Him, then wherever you are is exactly where He has you.

Remember: We're stewards, not owners. We're called to faithfulness, not fame. And little is much when God is in it.

The story doesn’t end with the crowd’s fear—Jesus’ compassion continued to work through the man who was healed. Sent back to his community, he shared his testimony, spreading hope where there had once been despair. His transformation became a living message: no one is beyond the reach of God’s love. Even when others don’t understand, our changed lives can point people to Christ’s power and grace.

The Redemptive Power That Still Frightens People Today

Wed, 01 Oct 2025 12:13:34 -0000

The account of the demon-possessed man highlights both the depth of Jesus’ mercy and the surprising reaction of the crowd. After years of torment, the man was set free and became a witness to God’s power—his life completely changed. But instead of celebrating, the people who saw this miracle were afraid. They asked Jesus to leave, unable to comprehend the transformation before them.

The Spirit Within Us

Tue, 28 Dec 2021 13:00:00 -0000

Is a Christian indwelt fully by the Holy Spirit at conversion? The Holy Spirit works in us continually from conversion through sanctification, and subsequently through various giftings and empowering. If the Holy Spirit is God and dwells within us, what does that call us to? We should continually be filled up by the Holy Spirit. In this episode, Dallas talks about spirit-filled living: our lives should show those around us the reality of a risen Christ alive within us by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit Baptism

Tue, 21 Dec 2021 12:00:00 -0000

The believers received the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, and Jesus said when you receive the Holy Spirit, you receive the power to be witnesses. Believers look at Holy Spirit Baptism in different doctrinal ways. These doctrinal differences leave some staying away from the mysterious Holy Spirit, and others with no desire to learn more about biblical spirit-filled living. In this episode, Dallas looks at what Holy Spirit Baptism means through the differing lenses of Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones and Dr. Wayne Grudem.

God, The Holy Spirit

Fri, 17 Dec 2021 16:44:00 -0000

When we surrender our lives to Jesus, it's the Holy Spirit who woos us, convicts us, transforms us, empowers us - it's all the work of the Holy Spirit which is the spirit of Christ, and the Holy Spirit dwells in us. A.W. Tozer says “We will never understand the Holy Spirit so long as we terminate our thought upon Him.” Who is the Holy Spirit? In season 3, episode 2, Dallas talks about God the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit, God.

Be Filled With the Holy Spirit

Tue, 02 Nov 2021 10:00:00 -0000

"That person is a Spirit-filled Christian! That's a Spirit-filled church!" What does it mean? Dallas has the privilege of seeing the Body of Christ in its many expressions and in all of his travels and opportunities, there is a noticeable absence of the Holy Spirit. It leads to to hearing phrases like, "It's a good church, but it's not a Spirit-filled church," or, "I was prayed for at this church, but then I went down to the Spirit-filled church to be prayed for." Season 3, episode 1 is Dallas' discussion on what it means to be Spirit-filled and what it means for believers.
